Holding trees above ground in plastic wrap
Trees can be dug at the most optimum time for the species (typically in dormant season, but not always) and held in the nursery until shipped. These roots balls are wrapped in plastic so they do not root back into the nursery soil. Pre-digging like this allows the tree to be planted any time of year.
