Methods
We evaluated irrigation frequency needed to establish 3-gallon shrubs in Florida in a multiple phase project.
A preliminary phase established the appropriate volume for further experiments as well as the range of irrigation frequencies that would be examined. A second portion of the study evaluated shrub quality, survival, growth and establishment under a rain shelter. Phase 1 of the primary portion of the study examined the effects of 3 irrigation frequencies on shrub growth and establishment at 3 locations in Florida. Finally, phase 2 of the of the study examined the effects of the irrigation frequency and volume combination established in earlier portions of the experiment on 6 native and 6 non native species at three locations in Florida.
