Two stems in canopy before pruning
It looks in this photo like the stem in the center of the canopy next to the splint at the top of the tree is the best one to keep as the leader. However, one of the stems growing off to the right actually is positioned best. The next several photos will describe how to produce a straight leader to the top of the trees using a quick splinting technique.
