Stub splinting

option B for stub splinting

This technique is useful when the tree has two leaders about the same size and they are growing away from each other. One of the two leaders is removed with a heading cut leaving a 4 to 5 inch long stub (see arrow). The stub is tied to the leader that was not cut to bring it toward the center of the canopy.
