Poor structure difficult to correct
Opposite branched trees such as maples and ashes sometimes produce main limbs opposite each other. These limbs steal resources from the leader and the leader gets choked off. Click to the next photo to see what can happen. Begin by heavily reducing each of the two side limbs to slow their growth. The intention is to push growth into the central leader.
