large girdling root

This large root (see arrow) was circling the 1 gallon container 18 months ago. The tree was potted into this larger container without slicing the circling root. The root was only pencil lead size when the tree was potted into this larger container. Now the tree is a cull and should not be planted into a larger container, nor should it be planted into the landscape.
