circling roots

This red maple was planted from a 1 gallon container into this 15 gallon container 15 months ago. It is time to move this tree up to a larger container or plant it into the landscape. Slice the root ball one to two inches deep in at least six places from top to bottom before potting up or planting into the landscape. This will reduce the likelihood of these roots causing problems later.
