Finished 2.7" caliper trees with severe defects
Finished 2.7 inch caliper red maple (above) and elm (below) showing main structural roots buried deep in the root ball. Top most root was placed 3 inches deep when liner was planted into the #3 container. When subsequently potted into the #15 container the top of the root ball was placed another 3 inches deep. The finished #15 container was planted even with substrate into #45 container. Tree caliper:container size ratio conformed to ANSI Z60.1 nursery stock standards.
