Fallen palms

Queen palms are sensitive to blow over in storms. They can cause serious damage to structures. Deep planting can cause poor root anchorage and might be responsible for some of this blow down.

Some palms fall over in hurricanes. Queen palms are especially sensitive to blow down. Royal palms loose many of their fronds in hurricane force winds. Phoenix and the native cabbage palm are quite resistant to hurricane blow over. Many palms can be righted and secured like transplanted palms.
