severe root defect from container

One large root deflected by the propagation container is kinked back toward and around the trunk base. Two other roots were deflected by the one gallon container; one is growing around and one was deflected down and disappears into the soil. Lateral roots should grow away from the trunk in a radial manner, not down into the soil.
