Yellow leaves

yellow leavesYellow leaves can be caused by nutrient deficiency, lack or water, foliage pest infestation, foliage disease infection, vascular infection with a wilt-type disease, a heavy fruit set, hidden trunk damage in hurricanes (see right photo), planting too deeply, and normal leaf senescence.

Determine the cause of the yellow leaves before providing treatment. An understanding of recent weather, common pest and disease problems on the affected trees, and a site history including the frequency, type, and amounts of fertilizers used are needed to diagnose this symptom. Yellow leaves can also occur following grade changes around trees.
