Splinting 1
Splinting overview
Three or four pruning cuts were made on upright stems growing in the lower portion of the trunk (red lines). The tree is strong enough to hold inself up but a splint is installed to straighten the trunk (left). A larger trunk can be somewhat straightened with a splint far up into the canopy.
