Removing low branches to finish crop
Removing low temporary branches
In the last year of production, all temporary branches are removed by nearly all nurseries. This is mostly driven by tradition than biology. It is not necessary to remove all temporary low branches before planting into the landscape. In fact, low branches can help keep mowers away, and they shade the trunk preventing sunscald on thin-barked trees.
