Clusters too small

trees in small cluster

These trees were planted in clusters but the clusters were too small. Three tree grates were simply placed end-to-end. There was not enough soil space for root expansion. Combined with the tremendous heat load from the large expanse of pavement, trees began to decline within one year of planting. Click on the next photo for a closer look.
