Root spread in urban landscapes
Roots of these trees fill the strip between the sidewalk and the street. Roots grew under the sidewalk to the left and into the lawns of the homes along the street. Roots want to spread under the street to the other side but can be deflected by the pavement. This can result in a one sided root system.
