Circling roots on field-grown tree
Root defects are not confined to trees grown in containers. This fielded-grown tree was planted from a one-gallon container. Roots were not sliced when the tree was planted in the nursery so circling roots that were present in the container continued to grow larger in diameter. About six main roots were generated from the trunk after the tree was planted in the nursery and they grew straight out from the trunk.
