Root balls from fabric containers
Trees on the left were grown with irrigation applied to about a 3 foot diameter circle centered on the trunk. Those in the center were grown with irrigation applied only to the top of the fabric container. Those on the right received no irrigation. Notice that there are more roots on the trees in the center row which received irrigation only on the fabric container.
