staked trees

Trees are staked for one of two reasons: 1) to keep the tree upright and 2) to develop a straight trunk. There are so many ways to secure trees in the upright position it is almost futile to present some for fear of excluding some important ones. Click through the container and field techniques for an introduction to some of the more common systems.

Staking does not reduce caliper so long as low branches are managed appropriately.
