Mulching a declining large tree

mulching a declining treeConstruction adtivities damaged the root system around this large mature oak because preservation guidelines were ignored. There was no mechanism in place to enforce the preservation plan. Once construction was completed, mulch was added under the declining tree. This eliminated compaction from mowers and eliminated the chances for the tree to receive injury from mowers and string trimmers. In the seven years since, the tree has improved in health and now has foliage throughout most of the canopy. The mulched area is more than 40 feet in diameter.
