Changing the drainage pattern

drainage patternTrees often decline when water is re-routed toward or away from the root system. This often results from soil grade changes on a construction site. Roots grow accustomed to a pattern of water movement through the soil. When more is added from surface flow from surrounding areas, roots can suffer as soil oxygen levels go down. When less or more water reaches the site than before roots are unable to grow as they did prior to the grade change. This can lead to a decline in health and can kill trees.
