Trees blow over when soil and roots fail

Trees can blow over when roots and soil are not strong enough to hold the tree up. The roots broke on this tree when the shallow soil was not strong enough to hold the roots down.

Treatment: This small tree can be brought to the upright position with a winch or other mechanical device and secured in the upright position. Treat this like a recently transplanted tree by irrigating roots regularly until new roots are well established. Protect the trunk from damage when pulling the tree. See: More on treating leans.
