- Congratulations to Amanda, Larissa, Megan and Ashkon, a high school student trainee in the lab, for the recent publication!
July 2023
- Dr. Nadakuduti and PhD student in the lab, Larissa attended the 2023 Phytochemical Society of North America Annual Meeting. Larissa won a travel award and presented her research at the meeting.
- Dr. Nadakuduti chaired a session on “Chemistry, food security and nutrition” in the 2023 Phytochemical Society of North America Annual Meeting.
- High school student Ashkon Shirazi supported by The Student Science Training Program, participated in Nadakuduti lab research, and presented a poster in the research symposium organized by Center for Precollegiate Education and Training at the University of Florida, Gainesville.
June 2023
- Dr. Nadakuduti presenting at the SIVB 2023: In Vitro Biology Meeting, Norfolk, Virginia
- Dr. Nadakuduti and team, Douches lab at Michigan State University were awarded Outstanding Paper of the Year 2022 by the American Journal of Potato Research. The award was presented at The Potato Association of America annual meeting in 2023, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada
March 2023
- Masters student Blake’s thesis was selected for the UF/IFAS Award of Excellence for Graduate Research Best Thesis in Agricultural Systems. This award will be presented at the 16th Annual Florida Agricultural Experiment Station Research Awards Ceremony which will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at 5:30 pm at the Samuel P. Harn Museum on campus. Hearty congratulations to Blake!!

- Blake Costine’s second paper from his Masters thesis got published.

- Dr. Nadakuduti gave a talk on “Heritage food and Indian medicinal plants for Florida” in Santa Fe college as a part of “Florida Heritage Foods Initiative: Connecting Local Food with Local Culture in Florida Farmers Markets,”. As a part of three-year grant from USDA, Florida Organic Growers and Consumers (FOG) will help farmers and farmers markets host eight local food and culture events with a theme of “Opportunities and Benefits of Heritage Foods”.
- Larissa Laforest successfully completed her PhD qualifying exam and is now a PhD candidate in the Plant Molecular and Cell Biology program.
- Congratulations to Carlos, the recipient of a Grinter Graduate School Fellowship for the academic year 2022.
- Our lab once again co-hosted a bright group of @UFHonors (https://twitter.com/UFHonors) class along with Begcy lab. Larissa and Carlos planned lab activities for these students!!

Hearty congratulations to Blake Costine, the first graduate student in the lab who successfully defended his Master’s thesis in June 2022. He is also embarking on a new journey as Horticulture scientist at Kennedy Space Center where he will work in collaboration with NASA to support plant production in controlled environments for space exploration missions. We wish him good luck!!

Trisha will be studying the molecular mechanisms of virus-host interactions with Grapevine Fanleaf virus and host plant Nicotiana benthamiana.
