Example 2

Before pruning

tree before pruning

Before pruning there is no apparent leader to the top of the tree.Branches and stems need to be removed from the canopy. There is plenty of caliper and trunk taper so some temporary branches can be removed and others shortened.

After pruning

tree after pruning

Removing some branches back to the trunk, or shortening them considerable back inside the canopy edge, resulted in a canopy with a dominant leader to the top of the tree. Some lower temporary branches were removed, others were shortened.
