Wire in trunk
Wire wrapped around the trunk cuts off flow of water to the top of the tree and sugars toward the roots. It can take 20 years or more but trees can die from this. The top of the tree below was mostly dead. The tree on the right showed no symptoms.
Solution: Attempt to remove as much of the wire as possible. Leave the portion of the wire that is difficult to remove without causing further damage.
