Animation of growth with structural pruning

The clip shows how a tree could grow in response to structural pruning. The tree will grow beginning as a young nursery liner through about year 10 or 15. The nursery operator will produce a high quality trunk and branch structure before the tree is planted in the landscape. Notice that following the first pruning in the landscape the growth rate of the pruned branch on the left slows down. The right stem grows faster and dominates the structure of the tree because it was not pruned. This makes the tree stronger than trees that grow with several stems or trunks.
