Root barrier along trees

These trees were planted six years ago along with a root barrier called Biobarrier (see arrows). The bottom of the barrier was 12 inches below the soil surface. The top of the barrier was at the soil surface.

Periodic maintenance was required to prevent roots from growing over the top of the barrier, i.e soil and organic matter had to be removed from the top of the barrier.
