Save strong and healthy trees for preservation

Trees that are preserved on construction sites must be carefully selected to ensure they will survive construction impacts, adapt to a new environment, and perform will in the landscape.

Healthy, vigorous trees will good structure are the most suitable specimens for preservation. Younger trees are more tolerant of construction impacts than older and over-mature trees. Some species may also perform better in the landscape than others. Studies show that trees in groups survive better than single specimens.
