Royal palms
Royal palm fronds break near their base in hurricanes. The green portion of the frond that wraps around the crown shaft often remains on the palm. This will turn brown and fall off the palm in the coming months.
Wind (120 mph) injury near the coast. Frond sheath remains on the crown shaft and will turn brown in the coming months and will all to the ground. If you look carefully you can see that some of it is already turning brown. |

Salt (aeresol) and wind damage combine to turn foliage brown. The base of the leaflets often remain green. Leave all fronds that have any green on the palm to help the palm regain energy reserves. This will help it recover. |
