No roots in limestone sub-base

roots do not grow in limestone used as a road base or sidewalk base. Some roots
may eventually grow on top of the limestone (see roots growing on top in photo)
directly under the asphalt but few if any will grow in the limestone. (photo Dr. Tim Broschat)
