The UF/IFAS Plant Innovation Center is an interdisciplinary group of 30 faculty members spanning four colleges (CALS, CLAS, Business, College of Medicine), several academic departments and centers. Our faculty members cover an unprecedented range of disciplines with a single shared vision: producing healthier and tastier foods that will give Florida and U.S. growers significant advantages in the marketplace.  Our cross-disciplinary center is absolutely unique in the world in its focus to improve the entire chain from farm to consumer, linking variety development to consumers. Our faculty have expertise in variety development, agricultural practices, postharvest handling, food science, human nutrition, neuroscience, psychology and consumer research. We have two members of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences and faculty members who are world leaders in their respective fields. In addition to providing cutting edge products for Florida agriculture, we provide a unique and rigorous training environment for the next generation of leaders, actively mentoring our younger faculty, postdocs, graduate and undergraduate student research talent.
