  • RESEARCH

Dr. Trenholm led the Florida Department of Environmental Protection turfgrass nutrient leaching research project. The research was conducted in 3 locations statewide from 2004-2012 and monitored nitrate leaching under a variety of conditions. Results of this project verified the recommendations in the Best Management Practices and resulted in revisions to some of the current fertilization recommendations. The research conclusively determined that healthy, actively growing turfgrass will assimilate virtually all of the nitrogen applied in fertilizer applications.
