trunk injury

Trunk injuries are especially damaging to mature trees. Trunk damage can result from cutting large roots close to the tree, heavy equipment knocking against the trunk, string trimmers, lawn mowers, and other activities. Decay, cavities, and hollows can follow injury to trunks and branches. Cavities and hollows often result from injury that occurred many years ago.
