Roots at proper depth in the landscape Back to root growth on urban trees
(Click on photographs for more information-suggest starting with 1)
Set the root ball at the appropirate depth in the landscape to establish plants quickly. Trees set too deep in the landscape often become unthrifty soon after planting because 1) roots can not access adequate oxygen, 2) roots can be cut off from adequate moisture, and 3) roots may remain too wet in poorly drained soils.
