lateral branches on lower trunk

Check out all the lateral branches along the lower trunk. These should be retained to help establish roots and build caliper. They can be shortened some as the tree grows to promote more growth in the top of the tree. This will be covered in greater detail in "low branch management", and in "year one" and "year two" topics shown on the left in the contents menu.
