Isolated trees

Here are some special considerations for trees that are out in the open with few other trees nearby. Pay particular attention to the canopy density. If the canopy is dense then consider thinning it to reduce wind load.

Root collar
Codominant stems
Bark inclusions
Trunk decay, openings, and cracks
Unbalanced canopy
Dense canopy - thin the canopy to reduce the liklihood of falling over
Top-heavy canopy - Thin or reduce the canopy
