The overall goal of the Foliage Research Programs in the Environmental Horticulture Department at Gainesville is to gain a better understanding of the anatomical and morphological responses of plants to environmental stimuli. Leaf initiation and development as influenced by the intensity and spectral distribution of light is the current area of research emphasis. One aspect of leaf development currently receiving considerable attention is the influence of light intensity on leaf chimera patterns as determined by the frequency and plane of cell division during leaf ontogeny. |
