Floriculture research addresses topics related to the production and postproduction handling of flowering potted plants and fresh cut flowers. Production areas include growth and development, proper use and application techniques for plant growth regulators and high temperature stress. In the postproduction program, the effects of production, storage and retail/consumer conditions are addressed for a wide range of flowering potted plants. In addition, other studies are designed to determine the physiological basis for senescence in flowering plants.
