Tree and Shrub Research Abstracts

Details of some current research interests include the following: Research is directed toward tree and shrub production practices and their impact on the rate of establishment in the landscape. Production practices include pruning, irrigation, fertilizer, root pruning to improve root systems, and non-traditional containers. Major focus includes root morphology in response to nursery production and water stress after planting, and evaluation and modeling of the factors that influence tree anchorage in the landscape. The impact of landscape tree pruning on tree biology and response has become an important part of my research and education programs since the late 1990s.
