These Prestige Red are also off to a strong start.

|
At two weeks after pinching, this Prestige Red crop is similar to the group being treated with sprays. We are applying a Bonzi drench at 1/10 ppm, which is our low rate for the early drench http://hort.ifas.ufl.edu/floriculture/height2007/PGR.htm. There should be plenty of time to bring this crop back in the curve with drench applications.

The Bonzi drench applied last week has started slowing elongation on this Prestige Red crop. Now we will see how long the effect holds.

|
These Prestige Red look good. This past week, elongation was at a rate slower than the top curve. Since there is not a cut off date for the early Bonzi drench, we do not have to treat these plants this week. If they grow too much in the next couple of weeks, another early drench should bring them back to the curve.

While these Prestige Red are about the same size as the ones we are spraying, we do not have as much concern because since we are using drenches. This week we are applying a Bonzi early drench at 1/10 ppm and will see how the plants respond over the next couple of weeks.

The elongation rate on this Prestige Red crop is better than the first crop. This crop is not being drenched this week and we will see where it is next week.

This crop of Prestige Red is in good shape. We are applying a Bonzi drench at 1/10 ppm this week. If this works as expected, the plants will slow down a little more and may not need another drench. So, we will now see how this works out.

|
This Prestige Red crop grew more than expected. Like the other Prestige Red, these plants are showing visible bud, but have little color. We want to take some action to avoid the crop getting too tall, so we are doing a Bonzi drench at 0.5 ppm. Half of the late drench rate is being used because we are slightly early for the full rate.

Looking at the amount of elongation in these Prestige Red from a height control standpoint, we probably would have been better off using a higher drench rate last week. Elongation may slow down and the crop may finish at about 16 inches. However, we do not want to risk them getting too tall. So, we are doing another Bonzi drench at 0.5 ppm this week. Like the first Prestige Red crop, these plants are behind in color development.

This crop of Prestige Red that has only been treated with Bonzi drenches appears to be under control now and should finish at about 16 inches. Development is similar to the other Prestige Red crop

This crop is also headed for about 16 inches. We will have to see how the bracts continue to expand.

|
This crop of Prestige Red received 3 Bonzi early drench applications at 1/10 ppm and 2 late drenches at 0.5 ppm each. The crop has finished at the top of our desired heights and the plants look good. Compare bract size on these plants with bract development of the other Prestige Red crop. Both crops received a large amount of PGR, but the early drench treatments put this crop in a little better situation on Oct. 30. Looking back we should have used 1/5 ppm on Oct. 23 to get more control at that time.
