Weekly Notes for Prestige 6.5"

8/30	This is a 16-18" crop, for which Prestige is well suited. It can be quicker to start after the pinch than varieties like Freedom, so we expect to make our first pgr spray at two weeks.
9/6	We will see how this crop looks next week, but will probably do a pgr spray then.
9/13	The laterals are starting to elongate now and we want to prevent this crop from getting to tall early. So, we are spraying a medium rate of B-Nine/Cycocel at 1,500/1,250 ppm
9/20	Lateral growth looks good and since they seem to be under good control we are not spraying this week.
9/27	This Prestige crop looks good. We sprayed a low rate (1,000 ppm each) B-Nine/Cycocel, which should help the crop grow at the bottom of the graph for the next 3-4 weeks. See the Christmas Feelings Red 6.5" crop for additional comments explaining our strategy.
10/4	This Prestige crop looks good at this stage and should be fine until we can apply a late drench. Our temperatures during the past week and this week are about average, so this should not be a bad heat delay year for Prestige. Thus, this crop should finish as scheduled at the end of November.
10/11	These plants are doing well and look like they will continue to elongate at a good pace. We could spray the crop with Cycocel this week to slow them a little, but we are deciding not to spray. If they grow at 2" per week we will have a problem in 3 weeks, but if they are at only 1.5" per week we will be doing the late drench right on time.
10/18	This crop is growing at slightly more than an inch per week, which is good. It will probably increase some in the next 2 weeks.
10/25	Very first signs of first color is showing on this crop now, which indicates it was not badly heat delayed this year. Heights are in good shape and we should not need to do a late drench for 2-3 weeks.
11/1	This crop did not slow down too much with the cooler temperatures this week. It will probably be at about 15 inches next week.
11/8	The past several days have been much warmer than normal with higher light levels and this Prestige crop is showing some upward leaf curl in response to the weather. This may be the reason the crop did not grow as expected this past week and now will probably finish short. This crop is well ahead of schedule and ahead of other Prestige crops we have in other locations.
11/15	It is amazing how early this Prestige crop is and it will be close to finished next week. It will finish a little short.
11/22	This crop is showing pollen in 2-3 cyathia on each branch and is very close to the same stage as Freedom. This is very unusual for Prestige and other Prestige crops in the same greenhouse are about a week later than this one.
11/29	This year we used less growth regulator than normal on all of our crops, and only putting two sprays on this Prestige crop was unusual. While this crop looks very good, it was also unusual for Prestige to finish a week earlier than expected.
