| This Week's Notes: Week 48 - Like most new important poinsettia varieties, it will take two to three years to really learn how Prestige responds under different conditions. In this warm fall, the early growth in this crop and the Prestige crops in other greenhouses was greater than Freedom. However, once growth slowed down, Prestige was easy to manage. The 0.5 ppm drench applied on Oct. 30 worked nicely to bring the crop in at the desired height. This crop is about a week later than we had planned. Part of this is due to the high temperatures delaying initiation and part is due to the growth regulators used. The schedule this year was to plant and pinch Prestige one week earlier than Freedom. Next year we will put Prestige on the same planting schedule as Freedom and plan for it to finish about ten days after Freedom. | ||
